Hamlin 5/10 Results!
May 10, 2008 – A beautiful spring day and cool evening brought some tough competition to Hamlin!
The 27-car field of Regular Slingshots put on a fantastic show of competition, side-by-side racing, and the never say die attitude! The “Bushkill Bullet” #1R Kyle Rohner, coming off a tough prior week of competition, drove a perfect race on Saturday night to earn his 1st Hamlin Speedway feature win in 2008! After winning his heat, with the handicap in place, Rohner started in the 7th position in the Big Dance! On the pole was the #12D of Dana Smith with #91 Daniel West on the outside. As the green flag dropped - the #12D of Dana Smith jumped into the lead until turn 3 where a spin collected several cars. With a total restart the #91 of Daniel West jumped into the lead. By lap 8 the #1R of the “Bushkill Bullet” was coming to the front and captured the lead from West to never retreat. Hot competition behind Rohner included the battle between the #327 Zach O’Connell, #59 of Cody Kline, and #23 of Shannon Smith. The #55r of Ryan Wood earned a 5th place finish with #14t of Jeff Cosgrove in 6th, #5s of Dale Kober in 7th, #91 of Daniel West in 8th, #12 of Adam Brown in 9th, and #97 of Jilly Long in 10th. The Hard Charger award goes to #13x Ben “Flip” Whitaker running the #51 car of Carl Bittenbender coming from the 24th starting spot to finish 12th!

The Junior Slingshots, with a strong 11-car field, saw the #12 of Mikey Horton dominate the feature event leading from the drop of the green flag to the checkered! Coming from the 4th starting spot to finish 2nd was the #27 of Jacob Hendershot with the #97j of Justin Brewster in 3rd. Coming home 4th was the #2 of Brittany Tresch and 5th went to #93 of Jason West earning the Hard Charger coming from the 10th starting spot. The top novice driver for the last week of novice juniors was the #33 of Troy Langendoerfer! Troy suffered mechanical problems in the previous 2 weeks of competition only to come out ahead on week #3!

The Super! Slingers saw the #5s of Dale Kober return to victory circle for his first 2008 win! Coming home a very strong 2nd was the #33 of John Wesp with the #23c of Marc Daniels in 3rd. Finishing a solid 4th was the #780 of Rich Sanford with the #112 of Randy Leuthe in 5th. Rounding out the top 10 was the #21 of Todd Chambers, #87 of Bob Clark, #12D of Henry Anderson, #96 of Dale Reed, and #49 Floyd Aumick in 10th. Next week is the SUPER 40! For the Super! Slingers twin heats, non-handicap $500 to win with 24 or more entries!

May 3, 2008 – Hamlin Speedway – Slingshot & 270cc Micro Sprint Results:
May 3, 2008 – For the second week in a row – the new motto “Five Wide on the Outside” was the theme for the “Briggs & Stratton Mid-Atlantic Tour” for the Regular Slingshots! Wow what a night of racing! With a continuous threat of rain and storms arriving after midnight – the show set fast time and was completed before 10pm! The night was cold, damp, and dreary but the racing was HOT!
The Regular Slingshots brought 32 of the most talented slingshot drivers going for the gold! The double heat format with pill draw determines the feature lineup. The 6 heats produced 6 different winners with side-by-side racing throughout the field. The newly widened and slightly banked 1/5th mile oval allowed some fantastic 3 and sometimes 4-wide racing all night long! The track conditions permitted starting ALL 32 slingshots in the feature! Starting on the pole and leading to the checkered flag was the #23b of Billy VanInwegen Jr. but not without challenge from the #14t of Jeff Cosgrove who finished only .006 seconds behind at the line! Billy V also set the fastest lap time with a 14.918. With serious racing going on at every turn – the #1A of Anthony Perrego finished 3rd with the #04 of Bill VanInwegen in 4th. A race long battle between father and daughter, #19 Emily V, ended with a spin in turn 3 going to the checkered flag. Coming across the line in 5th was the #5s of Dale Kober with the #87 of Marc Daniels in 6th. Racing the Clark’s Garage #87 – Daniels set the second fastest time in the slingshot division with a 14.993. Rounding out the top 10 was the #551 of Simon Egan in 7th, #72 of Jim Houseworth in 8th, with #59 of Cody Kline in 9th, and #97 of Jill Long in 10th.

The 270cc Micro Sprints saw the #94 of Matt Mountz earning his 1st feature win in the 270cc division with authority! Mountz had the fastest lap time of 12.014 for an average speed of 59.93 around the 1/5th clay oval. Coming home 2nd was the strong runner #83 Nunzi Allegrucci with the consistent runner of the #10 Mark Gilmore in 3rd. Finishing 4th was the #8s of Pete Skias and 5th went to #88 Nick Skias who earned the Hard Charger coming from the 12th starting spot. The 6th finisher was the #92 of Joe Smith and 7th went to the #7 of Rick Casario.

We will be keeping the show promptly on schedule with the threat of rain later, later tonight (after midnight).
Any drivers registering late (karts after 3:30 and Big Cars after 5:30) - will start in the back of the next available heat. Please be prompt!
