HAMLIN 7/26 & Next Wk: SPEEDWEEK & Nascar Crew!

July 26, 2008 – Hamlin Speedway - Slingshot - Micro Results:

July 26, 2008: ED SMITH EXCAVATING sponsored an exciting night of racing at Hamlin Speedway! With the Big Car Division count of 72 competitors – the racing was action-packed!

With a 28-car field of Regular Slingshots – a rookie of the division earned his 2nd feature win of 2008! The #59 of CODY KLINE, coming out of the go-kart ranks in 2008, drove his way to the front of the pack from the 9th starting spot to take his 2nd feature win of 2008! Starting on the pole was the #1 of Billy Weaver with the #12D of Dana Smith (the birthday girl!) on the outside. Weaver jumped out into a commanding lead until a caution flew, negating his lead. The #26 of Mackenzie Brink challenged Weaver and took over the lead. An unfortunate tangle between the #13x of Ben Whitaker and Brink (the leader) forced both cars to the back of the 28-car pack. Kline was waiting in the wings and took over the lead to take the checkered flag. Patience paid off for Kline earning his 2nd feature win in his Rookie Season! The track conditions were the best ever, fast, and highly competitive! Taking home 2nd from the 5th starting spot was the #5s of Dale Kober, 3rd went to the #1 of Billy Weaver, 4th to the #23c of Billy Clark, and 5th to the #1r of Kyle Rohner. Silently working his way through the field from the 18th starting spot to finish 6th was the #23b of Billy VanInwegen Jr. earning the Hard Charger of the event.
